Gordon, Wisconsin Named Epicenter Of UFOs In 1975

Hey everyone - this story blew my mind.  In the late 1970s, my parents built a lovely retirement home in Wascott on Crystal Lake, not far from TOTOGATIC PARK (Minong Flowage) where a UFO was just spotted in 2025...

...but there is more... this one tiny town GORDON, where we went to church and ate burgers at the famous BUCKHORN TAVERN or had a nice dinner at the POODLE INN, was a UFO HOT SPOT?  WAIT, WHAT ?  I never knew a thing about this until today!

A farmer reported his two cows disappeared

Black Triangle UFOs Photographed in Wisconsin in 2025?

(kinda remote) Northern Wisconsin, where I lived 1996-1999

By Tim Binnall

An intriguing photograph from Wisconsin shows what appear to be a pair of black triangular UFOs cruising through the night sky. Radio personality Ken Hayes' wife reportedly snapped the interesting image (seen below) during a recent camping trip to the state's Totogatic County Park in Minong.  Intending to capture the breathtaking natural beauty of the star-filled sky, he recalled, "when she looked back at the photo she just took, she gasped and handed me her phone." What stunned Hayes' wife was the presence of two small black triangles in the image.

UFO in 2025

There is an area in Northwestern Wisconsin that has been a hot spot of strange sightings for decades. I've heard from locals in the area and there are plenty of stories of strange moving lights that go back to the 1970s. One farmer even said a flying saucer landed in his field. There also were cattle that vanished without a trace. It's a weird one, buckle in and get your tinfoil hat on.

An article that featured a snippet of the strange 1975 UFO story was published recently on "Douglas County Past" from the Superior Telegram. That got some people coming forward with their own stories from that time period online. In recent years, I've been sharing UFO stories and investigating some of these sightings. I've had several people tell me about their UFO sightings in this area of Douglas County. I wanted to look deeper into the history of what happened.

Back in 1975, a one-time skeptic of UFOs, Eugene Lundholm became convinced over time that UFOs were real. He was a librarian at the University of Wisconsin Superior. Checking records, he was in his 50s at the time local newspapers reported about recent UFO sightings. I found a newspaper clip deep online at Newspapers.com and I was able to get some information on these occurrences. Eugene spent his free time researching and trying to solve UFO sightings. He was interviewed by the Waukesha Daily Freeman on March 25, 1975, about recent UFO sightings. He talked about how he could easily solve a lot of sightings as aircraft or distant vehicle headlights. But, some of them he could never come up with an answer for. Several of those strange stories come from that event in 1975.

SUPERIOR WISCONSIN, May 1975:  (EVENING TELEGRAM)

Eugene Lundholm spends his spare time tracking down those will-o-the-wisps known as Unidentified Flying Objects, and his busy season has just begun.

Lundholm, librarian at the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus here, spent the weekend interviewing people who reported UFOs last Thursday when there were a host of strange objects and colored lights in the sky over northern Wisconsin.

Among others he talked to a farmer near Mellen — who reportedly saw a UFO that put down on his farm and then disappeared with a loud noise — as he continued his research into UFO sightings in northwestern Wisconsin he began two years ago.

Lundholm, who says he has seen at times things he considers UFOs, said the Gordon area in Douglas County is "a hot one.  It seems to be a focus point for about a 55-mile circular area for such sightings."

He said many sightings — including some of the sightings last Thursday — were in the Gordon area.

"We seem to have more sightings in this area than any other," he said.

👀👉 I moved back to Wisconsin in 1996, and stayed with my mom. Edie swore to me she saw a UFO on Crystal Lake, when it hovered over a neighbor's lake home.  That family was there part-time and had a small seaplane so they flew in to spend the weekend and their cabin was right across the small bay/inlet with a clear view from our dining room window.  The light was so bright it lit up our living room.  Mom was scared, of course.  I completely believed her!

Amazing is that I knew EUGENE and took his para-psychology class when I was at UWS but I had no idea he was documenting this back in the day.
